Another Savane Article from Annapolis: "SAVANE INVITE: Former Navy basketball player Sitapha Savane has been invited to mini camp with the Dallas Mavericks. Savane, a 2000 graduate of the Naval Academy, helped lead the Mids to an 82-33 record in his four years at Navy, including a 40-8 mark in the Patriot League.
Navy won Patriot League titles in '97 and '98 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament, losing to number one ranked North Carolina in '97 and to Utah in '98. He ended his Navy career with 943 points, good for 18th all-time at Navy, and 190 blocked shots, which is second in school history behind David Robinson. As a senior, Savane averaged 16.9 points and 7.9 rebounds per game in leading Navy to a 23-6 record.
Since graduating from the Naval Academy, the native of Senegal has played for Tenerife in the Spanish league. This past season Savane averaged 18.3 points and 6.7 rebounds in leading his squad to the championship.
If Savane has a good mini camp he will be invited to play with the Mavericks on their summer league team in Los Angeles."
