Washington Times Pre-season Assessment of AU:
AMERICAN: Jeff Jones begins his fourth season with the Eagles by rebuilding their backcourt. AU lost leading scorer Steven Miles [16.4 points a game] and point guard Glenn Stokes [15.2]. The Eagles will look to senior defensive specialist Andres Rodriguez to run the team at point guard. Highly touted freshman Linas Liekavicius, a Lithuanian who played high school ball in Charlottesville, and Virginia high school star Andre Ingram should help fill the void at guard.
Jernavis Draughn, a 6-foot-5 senior forward, will be asked to take on a leadership role and build on his 8.9 points and 4.9 rebound averages. Jones has posted two consecutive winning seasons since the Eagles joined the Patriot League, but AU [16-14 last season] is still seeking its first NCAA appearance. @ 10:32 AM
