WHAT'S NEXT

OK, so the PL tournament is all but set. It would be quite a surprise to see anyone but HC and Bucknell hosting games. That doesn't mean the last three games of the season are meaningless-- far from it, especially the upcoming HC/Bucknell matchup in Worcester. But in the meantime, let's take a look at the PL class of 2009, at least, as much of it as I can piece together.

AMERICAN
Carr, Garrison G 5'9" 145 Washington (previous coverage here and here)
Garris, Gary G 6'4" 190 New Jersey
Mercer, Derrick G 5'8" 160 New Jersey
Nichols, Jordan F 6'6" 215 Maryland

BUCKNELL
Castleberry, Justin G 6'1" N/A Maryland (more here)
Linthicum, Josh C 6'11" N/A Virginia
Vegotsky, Jason G 6'2" N/A Pennsylvania

HOLY CROSS
Cunningham, Colin G 6'7" 195 Tennessee
Dixon, Lawrence G 6'5" 200 Maryland
McCarthy, Greg C 6'10" 210 Massachusetts
Vander Baan, Alex F 6'8" 195 Massachusetts

LAFAYETTE
Leszczynski, Tom C 6'10" N/A New York Lafayette
Smith, Dave F 6'7" N/A New Jersey Lafayette
Young, Brian F 6'7" N/A New Jersey Lafayette

LEHIGH
Gourley, John C 6'11" 250 Arkansas Lehigh (also here).

NAVY
Kina, Kaleo G 6'2" 180 Arizona
Reed, Casey F 6'5" 185 Oregon

More as I get it. By the way, feel free to post additional info or comments by clicking on the "X people think I'm full of it" right below this post.

Comments:
matt, what's the feeling at American regarding the smaller recruits? Two of the four coming in are 5'8" and 5'9".

Lafayette has three coming in and none are shorter than 6'7". Not bad considering the state of the program.

Already looking towards next year, I see. I thought we were getting "more about HC destroying everyone and the suckfest that is AU on the road". Instead, we get a post that belongs in late April. We got two excellent teams in this league that are doing battle, one playing against a top 25 team that night, and you throw this post up there. Weak.

James-- People seem to be pretty optimistic about the recruits, especially Mercer. Remember that AU is also getting transfer Paulinas Joulenunas (whose name I am butchering), who is 6'10" and played at South Carolina. That's a big (pun intended) pickup, considering 3 of AU's 4 big men leave next year. He will probably start when he is eligible in January. Until then, AU is going to be mighty undersized.

I was actually kind of surprised at the quality of the LC incoming kids, but maybe I shouldn't be. They've recuited some good players there in the past without scholarships, so who's to say they won't continue to do so?

Thanks for the anonymous flame, whoever you are. Feel free to start your own blog if you are unsatisfied with the quality here. You can also talk to our Customer Service department if you'd like a refund.
